Does everyone need to have their wisdom teeth removed?

Wisdom teeth need to be removed if they are causing a problem. You may keep them if:

  • There is enough room for them to erupt

  • They are not affecting your dentition  

  • You can keep them clean

What age does wisdom teeth come in?

 Wisdom teeth usually come in between the age of 17 and 25.

They are normally noticeable on X-ray by the age of 12 and continue to mature until about age 18.

What happens if you never get your wisdom teeth removed?

 It can lead to an impaction if there is not enough room for them to erupt. Impaction means that the teeth are stuck in your bone below the gum line.

Some sign and symptoms of infected wisdom tooth:’

  •  Tender or swollen gums.

  • Jaw pain

  • Swelling of the face or around the jaw.

  • Difficulty opening your mouth

  • Bad breath.

  • An unpleasant taste in your mouth.
